New publisher named for newspaper group

Bill Brehm Jr, president of Brehm Communications Inc., has announced that Bill Wallace will become publisher of Placer Community Newspapers, Inc. and Lisa Leonard has been promoted to classified and national advertising sales director for all of Gold Country Media.Placer Community Newspapers is the south Placer County group that includes the Roseville and Granite Bay Press-Tribunes, The Placer Herald in Rocklin, Lincoln News Messenger and The Loomis News, as well as the Folsom and El Dorado Hills Telegraph newspapers. It is part of Gold Country Media, which also includes the Auburn Journal and Colfax Record and their respective Web sites. Gold Country Media is a cluster of foothills newspapers owned by Brehm Communications, Inc., of San Diego."These changes will improve the strength of the management team for our customers throughout Gold Country Media, and provide each newspaper with a stronger community presence," said Tom Taylor, Brehm Communications vice president and general manager for Gold Country Media.Wallace was named general manager of The Press Tribune in November following two years with News West Publishing Co., a Brehm-owned group of newspapers and publications in the desert triangle of California, Arizona and Nevada. "It's wonderful to be able to work with so many true newspaper professionals," Wallace said. "I look forward to the challenge of my new position and continue to grow and serve all of the communities we cover." Wallace, 53, had an extensive career in advertising, printing and publishing in the southern United States before joining Brehm in 2003.Leonard, 47, joined the Auburn Journal in August 2003 as national sales manager and was named advertising director in August 2004. She previously worked in advertising management for The Sacramento Bee and Penny Saver."I've worked in this market for over 20 years and have seen the competitive landscape change dramatically," said Leonard, who is a Roseville resident and will now be based in Roseville. "In my new position, I am looking forward to finding solutions to meet the needs of our existing and new customers."
