Summer music series plays on at the Auburn Library

FridayAuburn Library hosts photography exhibit by Jan Livingston A photography exhibit featured by Jan Livingston (Anderson) is going on now through July 14 in the Beecher Room of the Auburn Library. Livingston is a graduate of Placer High and California State University Sacramento where she majored in art. Livingston's exhibit is available during business hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Canned Heat are the featured entertainers. Tickets are $25 if purchased in advance and $30 the day of the event. All proceeds raised at the event benefit homeless animals. Flex Your Power Pledge Drive set at Placer Nature CenterFrom 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, the Placer Nature Center will host the Flex Your Power Pledge Drive Kick-off and Light Bulb Exchange with Auburn Mayor Mike Holmes and Jim Holmes, District 3 Supervisor at Placer Nature Center, 3700 Christian Valley Rd in Auburn. In celebration of Placer County's July 2006 "Energy Efficiency Month," there will be a free exchange of incandescent light bulbs (one per family) for CFL bulbs. Linda Desai, PNC Education Director, will speak briefly about how to conserve energy on a daily basis. Make a pledge to yourself and your family to live in a way that promotes energy efficiency. The Grass Valley Male Voice Choir is a nonprofit which has its roots in Cornwall England with the Male Voice Choir tradition going back as far as anyone can remember. Call (916) 782-1777 for more information.SundayThe Auburn Summer Series announces its 18th concert season The Auburn Summer Music Series is celebrating its 18th season for four Sunday afternoons in July sponsored by the Auburn Friends of the Library beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 9, with music from Michael K & the Chapman Stick at the Auburn Library Garden Amphitheater located at 350 Nevada Street in Auburn. Each week, a different musical style is presented. The Auburn Food Closet will put food barrels at each concert for canned good donations. The series line up also includes: Cool Heat on July 16 will feature smooth Jazz, light rock sponsored by the Auburn Rotary Club. On July 23, Ivan Najera will feature Latin jazz sponsored by Richard P. Barber, Capital Management of Wachovia Securities and on July 30, Dead Stetson will feature country rock sponsored by Auburn Host Lions Club. Concerts are presented free to the community starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. No refreshments available.
