Practice of astrology cannot be backed up by science

I was surprised to see the full page and a half subscribed to the lucrative business of astrology by Features Editor Michelle Miller, Journal Dec. 21. This business dates way back to the Old Testament times and was very controversial then as it is now. Ivan Kelly, who has written many articles critical of astrology, believes that astrology has no relevance to understanding ourselves, or our place in the cosmos. He feels that modern advocates of astrology can't account for the basis of astrological associations and have not made any significant contribution to the value of any field of the social sciences. Good astrologers give good advice, but that does not validate astrology. Kelly says that professional astrologers, most of whom have nothing but disdain for sun sign astrology, can't pick out a correct horoscope reading any better than a chance rate. Yet, Kelly says that astrology continues to maintain its popularity, despite the fact that there is scarcely a shred of scientific evidence in its favor.I read online that there is another type of fortune telling called rumpology. They analyze the crevices, dimples and folds of the buttocks to define the butt owner's character and get a glimpse of what lies ahead by analyzing what trails behind. What's next? Don't answer.Needless to say, this is a lucrative business in old times and probably more now. It is strange the article didn't state the cost and locations of such soothsayers. It's insecurity and lack of leaving the future in God's hands and his word that drive people to such places. I was surprised to see the Journal give such a place in a family newspaper.
