There are better choices for dog park location

Is this a rumor or did I miss something about a proposal for two dog parks in Auburn? There has been a lot of discussion about this issue. Ashford Park is a small neighborhood park approximately 7 acres in total area. Dryden Wilson and his wife wanted an area that all people could enjoy. He and his wife gave up seven of the approximately 11 acres of his total estate for a park to be built. My understanding is that there are approximately 24 acres available and that part of this could be used for a dog park. One dog park in Auburn would be more than sufficient. Regional Park could offer everything that was proposed for the Ashford site and much more. Donations certainly could be a big part of the cost to build a dog park. I can tell you that Dryden Wilson would not have been in favor of the current proposal for Ashford Park. I have three dogs and love animals but after reviewing all of the pros and cons, Regional Park would be much more suitable for a dog park.Let's make this work for the majority and not just a few. We have much more important issues to deal with like getting our young men & women home safely from the war. Bob JacksonAuburn
