E.V. Cain Middle School has superior programs

This is regarding the negative letters that have been appearing lately concerning E.V. Cain School. James Margoles, Journal, June 7, wrote that "we at least need to acknowledge that E.V. Cain Middle School has failed." I hope Mr. Margoles realizes that he is merely expressing his own personal opinion, not a fact. Margoles admits in his letter that he didn't send his kids to E.V. Cain, therefore he has no true knowledge of what the school has to offer. He says that the school is being protected by a "minority of parents whose children succeed there." If Mr. Margoles had attended Cain's eighth-grade graduation on Tuesday evening June 5, he would have learned that many many kids succeed there, and many parents are happy with the school. There are a lot of excellent teachers and superior programs offered at E.V. Cain School. I can't say enough about the wonderful teachers that my daughters had there. The special opportunities are too numerous to mention. In addition, school counselor Fran Haynes is there to help any student or parent who needs it - all they have to do is ask. We all know that the middle-school years are difficult ones and no school can be perfect. I truly feel that E.V. Cain is being unfairly blamed.
