Cops bust alleged national pot ring

A nation-wide drug trafficking ring reportedly operating in El Dorado Hills was brought to a stand-still following the recovery of 47 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $300,000.Dana Marie Allen, 22, Samuel Alex Perez, 30, and Michael Francis Klaisle, 26, were arrested and taken to the Sacramento County Jail on felony drug and conspiracy charges July 21.Sgt. Tim Curran of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said Thursday the investigation is "ongoing" and it is possible that more arrests will be made.The home in the 4000 block of Concordia Drive is believed to be a distribution point for the processed marijuana."We believe they were distributing marijuana nationwide," Curran said. "There is no indication that the grow was located at the home."Two recent marijuana growing operations located in the foothills appear to have been Mexican national gardens. Curran said at this time there is no indication that the most recent arrest involved Mexican nationals.On June 20, narcotics detectives located and eradicated an outdoor marijuana grow in El Dorado Hills in an area off Salmon Falls Road that spanned more than a three-mile area. "We located about a mile of irrigation lines used to supply the plants with waster from remote watering sites," said Lt. Bryan Golmitz with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. Approximately 32,000 marijuana plants with an estimated street value in excess of $58 million were eradicated at that time.On July 1 multiple law enforcement agencies located marijuana gardens in the Stumpy Meadows area off Wentworth Springs Road. More than 15,000 plants with an estimated street value of $25 million were found.
