Bucks cruise into 50 years of marriage

Richard L. and Margaret E. (Fairley) Buck of Meadow Vista recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family cruise to Alaska.The couple met while attending a private boarding high school, Hampden DuBose Academy in Zellwood, Fla., where they were enrolled while their parents served as missionaries in Indonesia and Africa, respectively.After returning to California, following graduation, these high school sweethearts attended college; Richard at El Camino College in Torrance, and Margaret at Westmont College in Santa Barbara and then El Camino College. They married at Grace Church of Huntington Park, June 27, 1958.Richard worked for State Farm Insurance Company for 35 years as a claim representative. Margaret stayed home raising their three children, and once the last of the children had gone to college, she went to work as secretary at Cornerstone Community Church of Auburn for 17 years. Both retired in 1999.The couple's children are Diane and husband Jim Wesley of Grass Valley, Debbie and husband Scott Bryditzki of Auburn, and David and wife Rhodena Buck of Atlanta, Ga.The grandchildren who went on the Alaska cruise included: Danielle, Ashley and Brandon Bryditzki; Kristen Wesley; and Lauren and Matthew Buck. Unable to join them on the cruise were Nicole (Wesley) and husband Cody Brawley of Anderson.Also joining the cruise were Margaret's sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dave Seng of Tucson, Ariz.
