Hillmen soccer moves to 5-1-1 in SFL

Placer coach Rick Holland said of Sanchez.The Hillmen (5-1-1 SFL) got their second goal just three minutes in, when Nate McCallister took a pass from Shafai and scored. Jimmy Kingsley made it 3-0 just 10 minutes after halftime.Holland praised the midfield play of Ryan Flanery. ?He helped the flow of the game by moving the ball with one- and two-touches,? the coach said.The Hillmen are idle until Thursday?s game at Natomas.Colfax 3, Johnson West 1 at Sacramento ? Scrappy Johnson West scored the first goal of the Pioneer Valley League match in the 22nd minute on a windy day.But Colfax?s Brent Gabrielson evened it up just three minutes later, dribbling through three Warriors and beating the goalie one-on-one for a low shot into the left corner.Sophomore Ben Weeks scored off Gabrielson?s long throw-in with a nice shot into the upper left corner to make it 2-1. That frustrated Johnson West, which would receive three yellow cards and get out-shot 21-12. One player received his second yellow card for wrestling Colfax?s Casey Northey to the ground, resulting in a red card.Nick Reis scored the insurance goal most impressively, by curving a corner kick right into the goal.With their fourth straight PVL win, the Falcons (4-2-1, 4-4-1) will visit Lincoln on Tuesday and host Oakmont on Thursday in two huge games.Colfax?s JV lost 1-0 despite keeper Andrew McCarthy?s fine save of a penalty kick for the Falcons (5-2 PVL).Women?s GolfSierra College 370, Shasta 407 ? The Lady Wolverines were led to victory by Cirbie Sheppard for the second straight match at Auburn Valley, where her home course was while playing for Placer High the last four years.Sheppard shot a 12-over-par 85, while Courtney Randall added a stellar 86, Del Oro grad Amy Condensa a 93 and Kristin Partridge a 106 in the Bay Valley Conference bout.On Tuesday, Sierra (7-2, 7-3) kept College of the Siskiyous from pulling into a first-place tie with it by handing the visitors their fourth BVC loss, 382-385.Medalist Kelly Alexander (85) and Rachel Rice (87) of Siskiyous both shot better than Sheppard (89). Danielle Greenacre and Laura Johnson served dominantly for Placer (3-2, 8-3), while Emily Rightner had excellent passing and setter Jessica Stoll consistent play and hustle.
