Ingrid Kalnins, 47, nurse and mother

Ingrid Kalnins, who moved to Auburn as a 5-year-old and graduated from Placer High School in 1973, died Tuesday. She was 47.Kalnins, who kept her maiden name, was married to Ted Stapenhorst and had three children, Max, 15, Zoey, 13, and Corinne, 10.The graduate of Sacramento City College worked as a registered nurse at U.C. Davis Medical Center for 14 years starting in 1986.Her husband said she faced her sixth operation stemming from problems with her back and took medications for the ailment.?I could never imagine the amount of pain she was in,? he said. ?The pain was just incredible.?Kalnins had tried to make spaghetti for the family Friday night.?She was a mom to the end for her family,? said Stapenhorst, who is club director for the Auburn Nuggets basketball team.Kalnins was a stewardess for National Airlines from 1978-79.She was preceeded in death by her father, John Kalnins, in 1988. Her mother Irene Kalnins lives in Auburn.Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Parkside Church of the Nazarene, 3885 Richardson Drive in North Auburn.
