Toy Run needs alternate route through Auburn

This last Sunday I once again experienced the assault of the toy toting biker brigade." For the seven years that I have lived in the Weimar area and gone to church in the Downtown Auburn area, I have suffered the frustration of either trying to get to or leave church services -- only to be blockaded by a continuous stream of motorcycle enthusiasts for about 20 minutes. The selected route seems to be strategically placed to cause the highest possible impact to all traffic from Old Town to where Highway 49 enters the American River Canyon. This event never seems to be well thought out or to consider those of us who are actually trying to get somewhere in Auburn at that time of the morning. I understand it is for a good cause, but I have to believe there is a better way than to have hundreds of motorcycles clog the major thoroughfares of Auburn. Perhaps they could exit I-80 on Elm and continue on their way without maximum disruption. J.B. AckermanColfax
