Cosmos' season is over

The Folsom Cosmos, an under-16 select soccer team, saw its season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to Mission SF United on Saturday.The Cosmos advanced to the semifinals by winning three games at Cherry Island, beating Pleasanton Ballistic United, 7-0, Mission real Madrid Jr. , 5-1 and the Central Valley Storm, 3-1. Folsom advanced to Morgan Hill for the second round, where it defeated the East Diablo Fire, 3-1 after trailing 1-0 at halftime. The Cosmos fought for three goals within the first 12 minutes in very windy and rainy conditions. Against the California Rush, the Cosmos scored a flurry of three goals to a cap off a 5-2 win to secure an undefeated record in Association Cup. As a team, the Cosmos outscored opponents having 23 goals for and only five against. The Cosmos' strength is defense, which is led by goalie David Zezoff, and defenders Cody Dow, Brandon Greenley, Jason Monroy, RJ James, and Ryan Hutchinson. Their solid midfielders include Britton Sykes, Zach Williams, Adam Purser, and Will Benson, who provide ball control. Their forwards include Andrew Norton, Kevin Kula, Marty Rodil, and Chris Schaeffer. Coaches Graham Sykes and Matt Greenley said this team is very motivated to win and are playing better each game.
