Sierra College offering variety of summer sports camps

Sierra College has set dates for upcoming sports camps that will be hosted on the Rocklin campus this summer. Here are dates and fees and how to register.VolleyballBeginning Camp Dates: June 23 to 26Grades: four to sevenCost: $175Intermediate/Advanced Camp Dates: July 28 to 31Grades: seven to 12Cost: $175Softball (co-ed)Dates: June 23 to 26Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Ages: 8 to 16The goal of this camp is to provide personalized instruction on the fundamentals of softball with an emphasis on pitching, base running, defense and hitting. Each day the directors will lecture on a topic that will be reinforced with drills and videos. Players will have opportunities to build skills in scrimmage and game situations. Cost for the camp is $285.Girls Basketball CampDevelopment Camp - $185 Ages: 6 to 11; July 7 to 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday - ThursdayAdvanced Skill Camp - $199 Ages: 11 to 15; July 14 to 17, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Thursday. Goal of both camps is to offer personalized instruction on the fundamentals of basketball with an emphasis on developing shooting techniques, ball handling, passing and defensive skills. The advanced camp will work on positional skills such as post and guard offense and defense. Fast-break basketball and full-court games will also be emphasized.Each day the directors will lecture on a topic that will be reinforced with drills and videotapes. Players will have opportunities to demonstrate skills in scrimmage and game situations.
