Full court for Santucci Justice Center

Hundreds of local elected officials, city and county leaders turned out Wednesday afternoon to dedicate the Bill Santucci Justice Center.The 110,000-square-foot building, seven years in the making and located at 10800 Industrial Ave. in Roseville, is one piece of a major law and justice campus at the site. It's also slated to include a new headquarters for the District Attorney's Office and Placer County probation department, a new Placer County Sheriff's jail and sheriff's department substation.But all eyes were on the justice center Wednesday, where a majority of Placer County Superior Court cases -- which currently take place in Auburn courtrooms -- will be heard."How many times have we done something in Placer County with a new building like that?" said Superior Court Presiding Judge Larry D. Gaddis. Speakers also took the opportunity to honor Santucci, a lifelong Roseville resident, former mayor and Placer County supervisor who died earlier this year."Here was a man who was involved in the community, and the community will be involved here," District Attorney Brad Fenocchio said.For the full story, see Saturday's Press-Tribune.
