Colfax High announces 2019 Hall of Fame inductees

A star-studded group of All-State athletes, notable instructors, the longest tenured coach in school history, distinguished alumni and contributors, and two girls CIF Sac-Joaquin Section championship squads from the 1990s highlight the list of the Class of 2019 inductees set to enter the Colfax High School's Hall of Fame. The 2019 Hall of Fame Class, which will be inducted at ceremonies at Colfax High on Saturday, May 11, is the school's first group of inductees since 2014. All total, it will be the ninth group of honorees to go into the school's Hall of Fame which began in 1997. "We're pleased to announce this group of deserving honorees and teams," said Colfax High Principal Paul Lundberg. "This is a chance to celebrate the school's past history and honor these outstanding individuals, teams and their coaches." The 2019 inductees are: CONTRIBUTORS Lynn and Bob Macdonald Residents of the Colfax area for over 40 years, the Macdonalds have been staunch supporters of Colfax High activities. Lynn, in her 40-year tenure as a member of the Placer Union High School District Board of Trustees from the Colfax area, recently had the Lynn Macdonald Education Center dedicated by PUHSD in her honor. INSTRUCTORS Steve Trombetta, Steve Coverston Whether it be in Trombetta's specialty of math, or Coverston's direction in drafting and art, the two longtime Colfax High instructors, both award-winning, made a difference for Colfax High students for a combined total teaching career of over 60 years. DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI Peter Sims, class of 1994 Sims, who was also a member of Colfax High's state championship ski team while at CHS, is a best-selling author and the founder and CEO of Parliament Inc., a place and platform for forging and building new ventures. He is also an adviser at (Google) X, Alphabet's Moonshot Factory. His book "Little Bets: How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge From Small Discoveries" was selected as one of the six best advice books for entrepreneurs by the Wall Street Journal and as one of the best business books of the year by The Washington Post and Inc. Magazine. Marco Collins, class of 1983 A Meadow Vista native, Collins is a Seattle radio personality who was best known as the flagship DJ and music director at Seattle's 107.7, "The End," during the 1990s grunge explosion, which landed him a display spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Collins helped with the discovery of such bands as Nirvana, Weezer, Beck and Foo Fighters. On May 11, doors at Pucci Pavilion will open at 4 p.m. with dinner being served at 5 p.m. Ceremonies are slated to begin in the school's theater at approximately 6:15 p.m. Tickets are available at the Colfax High School office starting on March 28. Following the dinner and ceremony at Colfax High, a social hour is set for 8:30 p.m. at Dine and Dash in Colfax. Tickets for the dinner portion of the event are $25 per person and $10 for children ages 6-12. Children 5-and-under are no charge.
