Kenoyer wins this year's county award

Katie Kenoyer has won this year's county employee award. Kenoyer keeps herself quite busy with two jobs and she also makes time to volunteer for the community. The Journal asked Kenoyer six questions, her answers follow. 1. What is your job at the county and why is it important? My current role with Placer County is client services program supervisor. I oversee the Business Advantage Network unit (placer.ca.gov/ban). I have also had the opportunity to work in the Adult System of Care department as well as Human Services Eligibility. 2. Where did you grow up and where did you go to school? I grew up in South Nevada County and went to school at Nevada Union High School, then to CSU Sacramento. 3. Why did you choose this field of work? I didn't necessarily choose this line of work, the opportunity just kind of presented itself and morphed into an amazing career. 4. What do you like about your job? I currently have two jobs, Placer County and Lifetime Athletic, as well as several volunteer positions. Hands down, my favorite part of all of these, is being able to help others. I thrive on serving my community. 5. What do most people not know about your department? Most people don't know that my specific unit, the Business Advantage Network, even exists! It is a collaboration with Human Services and Economic Development. We assist the businesses in Placer County as well as the job seekers, and many other duties in between. 6. Anything else you would like to add? I began my career with Placer County in 1998 after working for Nevada County for five years. I am also a lifeguard, swim instructor and fitness instructor at Lifetime Athletic in Roseville. I am an active volunteer with Stand Up Placer, Folsom CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), and a frequent plasma donor (36 gallons and counting). In my free time I enjoy volunteering, swimming, hiking, stand up paddleboarding, and visiting the Placer County ale and wine establishments. My husband Jay and I live in Loomis with our two kids, Carly and Blake. I am humbled and honored to be chosen for this award as I know that there are many exemplary county employees that are equally deserving.
