1 killed in major Folsom accident

A passenger in a vehicle involved in a T-bone collision was killed at 10:45 a.m. Friday, June 7, at the intersection of Folsom-Auburn Road and Hillswood Drive, said Folsom Police Detective Melanie Catanio. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 77-year-old Randi Woods, of Folsom. The Folsom Police Department had closed northbound Folsom-Auburn Road between Greenback Lane and Oak Avenue Parkway due to the fatal accident. Catanio said Folsom emergency dispatch received the 911 call of two vehicles involved, a BMW sedan and a Ford SUV, and a person, Woods, in the BMW was unresponsive. "Fire and police responded and did determine that the passenger of the BMW was deceased," Catanio said. "The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local area hospital with major injuries, and the driver of the Ford vehicle has minor injuries." Catanio said as far as the fault factor, the Major Accident Response Team will be conducting an investigation. "Based on what I have received from the sergeants and initial responding officers, the BMW was traveling southbound on Folsom-Auburn Road, started to make a left-hand turn onto Hillswood Drive and turned in front of the Ford, and that's when the t-bone collision occurred," she said.
