Apparent murder-suicide in El Dorado Hills

Staff Report El Dorado Hills has seen its share of crime in the last few weeks. The usually sleepy hamlet, nestled in the foothills south-east of Folsom, was rocked by a bank robbery just few weeks ago. Now, law enforcement officers have an apparent murder-suicide on their hands.On Saturday, The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office responded to 911 calls at the Valley View Apartments on Valley View Parkway in El Dorado Hills.According to the calls, several gunshots were heard in the parking area.When deputies arrived, they found a man and a woman lying of the floor of the apartment garage.Deputies secured the area and medical attention was provided, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.The female had multiple gun shot wounds and died at the scene. The male subject had a gun shot wound to his head and was transported to UC Davis Medical Center.The female victim is a resident of the apartment complex, the man is not.Preliminary investigation suggests this is an isolated incident between the two involved individuals, according to the press release.The young woman has been identified as Cecilia Riveria, 27, of El Dorado Hills.The suspect has been identified as Sean Paul Rioux, 32 years, and a resident of El Dorado Hills. The suspect is currently at UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition.
