Pastel Paintings & More at the Gallery at 48 Natoma

Exhibit: July 12-Sept. 5 Opening reception: 6 p.m.-8 p.m. July 12 The Gallery at 48 Natoma Folsom.ca.us The Gallery at 48 Natoma is set to feature a new art exhibit, Pastel Paintings & More, and the community is invited to check it out. While this exhibit will feature pastel paintings from July 12 through Sept. 5, the gallery features all mediums of art throughout the year. "All mediums of are shown in a variety of curated exhibits that change six times a year," said Gallery Director Cynthia Abraham. "This exhibit, 'Pastel Paintings and More,' features a selection of seven artists from the Newcastle Packing Shed with nationally acclaimed pastel painters Jan Miller, Pat Stoddard Aragon, Charlene Schmidt, Gretchen Locke, Paul Harmon, Joyce Williams and Lucinda Johnson." Most of the artists featured in this exhibit are premier signature members of the prestigious Pastel Society of the West Coast, she said. Also in the adjacent Community Gallery at 48 Natoma, the annual Student Art Show will display work from a selection of adult art classes taught at the Art Center at 48 Natoma. The 48 Natoma Art Center has two exhibition spaces. In the Main Gallery, professional, nationally recognized artists from all over the United States are exhibited, along with national touring museum collections and exhibitions. In the adjacent Community Gallery, local art organizations, regional contests and art created in the 48 Natoma Art Center are coordinated with the Main Gallery theme. "The Gallery at 48 Natoma is owned and operated through the City of Folsom Parks and Recreation Department Community and Cultural Services Division," Abraham said. "The gallery offers work for sale and receives support through the City of Folsom general fund, art sales, donations, sponsorships and grants." Currently the gallery is scheduled into 2021. "Artists may apply to exhibit, and I often seek out qualified artists to complete a show," she said. The 48 Natoma Art Center offers visual and musical art classes to 6-year-olds to seniors. The Folsom Main Library offers exhibit space for children's art and other community groups. The Folsom Arts Association has an ongoing display on the first floor of Folsom City Hall. From the conservative to the cutting edge, with local, regional and national art, there is something here for everyone."
