Shotgun-wielding road rage; Sister's ID leads to jail; Apple iCare scam; More

Information comes from Placer County Sheriff's Office reports. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Charges may be changed or dropped. Sept. 29 Kelly Leigh Mathis, 43, of North Auburn was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting $58.97 worth of merchandise from the North Auburn Target store. A Ford F350 pickup was vandalized and burglarized while parked in the Railroad Avenue-East Grass Valley Street area of Colfax. A radio was missing and the truck rolled downhill before crashing, causing $6,000 in damage. Sept. 28 James Francis Lowe III, a 55-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested near North Auburn's Petco on suspicion of public intoxication and a probation violation. Michael Christopher McGinn, a 34-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, possession of a concealed dagger and a parole violation. Gabriel Nelson, 21, of Penryn was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving before being turned over to the custody of the California Highway Patrol. The arrest happened just after 2 a.m. on Taylor Road and Penryn Road in the Penryn area. Sept. 27 A 23-year-old Tennessee man was accosted at 2:30 a.m. while sleeping in his truck in the 3100-block of Penryn Road in Penryn. The man reported being robbed of a cell phone, debit card and $40 in cash after one of the two perpetrators drove him around in his vehicle for about an hour, while the second man followed in their vehicle. Sept. 26 Michael Christopher Boyd, 39, of Roseville was arrested on suspicion of making a death threat, brandishing a shotgun with a pistol grip and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The arrest in the 3900-block Cincinnati Avenue outside Rocklin followed what the Sheriff's Office alleges was a road rage incident. Shawna Marie Hyde, 35, of North Auburn was arrested on suspicion of giving a deputy her sister's ID when she was requested to identify herself during a vehicle stop of an auto she was a passenger in. The stop came just after midnight on North Auburn's Willow Creek Drive. A 6000-block 10th Street home in Sheridan was burglarized between May 1 and July 10, it was reported to the Sheriff's Office on Sept. 26. A total of $430 in property was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7300-block of Secret Ravine Road in the Roseville area. Sept. 25 A First Security Service patrol car had gas siphoned while parked at Sword Dancer Drive and PFE Road outside Lincoln. Jack Standridge, a 59-year-old transient, was cited outside Target in the 2700-block Bell Road area on suspicion of theft. Sept. 24 Golf clubs were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 9600-block of Granite Bay's Golf Club Drive. Value of the stolen clubs was $2,500. Aaron Matthew Berganiano, 18, of Grass Valley was arrested on suspicion of possessing a collapsible baton weapon. During the same vehicle stop, Joss Nicholas Wells, 29, of Foresthill was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and turned over to the California Highway Patrol. The arrests took place at Foresthill Road and Todd Valley Road in Foresthill. Jenny Lee Duncan, 65, of Colfax was arrested in the 200-block Glendale Road in Colfax on suspicion of driving under the influence. Brenden Richard Casey, a 29-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The arrest took place in the 11800-block Education Street of North Auburn. A 72-year-old Loomis woman reported buying $500 worth of Best Buy gift cards and giving the numbers to a phone caller who she thought was an Apple iCare technician. The caller had said it would be used to pay for repairs. It was a fraud and she tracked the card to Ann Arbor, Mich. The Sheriff's Office was unable to obtain a video from the Ann Arbor Best Buy to help identify a suspect.
