John Adams Academy to open new campus in Lincoln

John Adams Academy is set to open a permanent campus in fall 2020 after spending two years operating inside of portables at St. Joseph's Parish parking lot. The location will be in the Twelve Bridges neighborhood, along Colonnade Drive and will be 96,500 square feet. With this larger campus, the school will serve kindergarten through 12-grade and feature three libraries, kitchen and cafeteria, gymnasium, performing arts area, soccer field, lecture hall and plenty of parking. This will mark the academy's second location in south Placer, with the first location in Roseville along Lead Hill Boulevard. According to John Adams Academy, Inc. outreach and compliance director Norman Gonzales, the current Lincoln location started with 178 students and has grown to 241 students in kindergarten through eighth-grade. "Our Roseville campus currently serves just under 1,500 with over 1,000 applicants on the waitlist," Gonzales said. "Many enrolled and on the waitlist in Roseville live in Lincoln and are waiting for a permanent facility to open in Lincoln." The new Lincoln building will be the first John Adams Academy built from the ground up, according to John Adams Academy headmaster Heather Brown. "The design of the building will support our classical education model and further our goal of inspiring empathetic, caring servant leaders who will identify the good, the truth and the beautiful in life," Brown said. Western Placer Unified School District Superintendent Scott Leaman said he has enjoyed the partnership between the academy and the district. "Some districts really want to hold their charter schools at arms length and not embrace them so to speak and we feel that if there is education within our district, we would actually like to work with those partners," Leaman said. According to Brown, academy staff looks forward to serving Lincoln's growing population who are looking for an educational site such as John Adams Academy.
