Richard Lee Burge1/18/1936-12/24/2019Richard Burge, known as Poppy to his grandchildren, passed into Glory on Christmas Eve lovingly surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was 84 years old. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 18, 1936 to Robert and Leona Burge. He was the oldest of five. He was raised in Indiana and graduated from Southport High in 1955, attended Butler University, joined the United States Air Force in 1960 and stationed in Sacramento, CA. where he met his wife, Beverly. They were married on May 6, 1961. He began his career in Insurance and Securities in 1966. They moved to Christian Valley in 1976 where they built their home, and raised their children, Andy and Becky. Dick brought his business to Auburn and they established roots in the community, joining the Nazarene Church in 1988. Beverly even taught at Tutor Totter Preschool for 20 years. Besides the Lord and his family, Dick loved to play golf. He and Bev played many golf courses throughout the United States and traveled to many places including New Zealand and Australia. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara and his brother Gary. He is survived by his wife Beverly; son Andrew daughter Rebecca Klug (Russ) and grandchildren Kristen, Kimmi, Austin, Emilee, Lauren, Nathan and Amelia; and brothers Charlie and Roy. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday January 18th at 6:00pm at the Parkside Church of the Nazarene at 3885 Richardson Drive, Auburn, CA.
