RUSD Superintendent named Administrator of the Year

On Jan. 27, Superintendent Roger Stock of the Rocklin Unified School District was named Administrator of the Year by region two of the Association of California School Administrators, an academic organization largely located in Placer County. The Association of California School Administrators annual awards program offers recognition for school administrators who provide outstanding performance and achievement throughout their school and/or district, according to a press release. Administrators are nominated by their colleagues in more than 20 separate categories, both within the region and statewide. "Though this award was presented in my name, the accomplishments behind it would not have been possible without the support of our RUSD family - students, teachers, staff members, families and community members, our Board of Trustees and beyond," Stock said. "It is with great pride that I bring this award back to you. There are no amount of words that could express the gratitude I feel for my colleagues and the Rocklin Unified community for helping me continue the mission of excellence in education year after year. I am so pleased that our work has been recognized." According to the press release, those on the Association of California School Administrators awards committee reviewed eight criteria for the voting process. After his seven years with Rocklin Unified, the press release stated, Stock's "award submission was able to clearly note his outstanding dedication to student learning and success, collaboration with all throughout the district, strategic planning structures as well as his participation in ACSA across all levels." Stock was nominated by Rocklin Unified School District's Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services Kathy Pon. He was recognized by his wife, Laura Stock, district director of Secondary Programs; Marty Flowers, director of Elementary Programs; Bill MacDonald; several district leaders; principals and Board of Trustees President Rick Miller, among others. "To have our superintendent recognized by his colleagues for his ongoing accomplishments and commitment to all students is an honor for all of Rocklin, our teachers and staff," Miller said. "It's a testament to the importance of student-centered leadership and as a Rocklin community member and Rocklin Unified School District parent, I am proud to play a role in Superintendent Stock's legacy with the district." Among the goals set forth by Stock's mission statement is ensuring that all students are prepared for college, career and citizenship in the 21st-century through a high quality, well-rounded education in partnership with families and community. Stock's wife is also a special education teacher and his oldest daughter is in college studying to be a future educational leader, according to the press release. Prior to his current role, Stock served as the chief academic officer for San Juan Unified School District where he worked on a variety of innovative school reform efforts related to urban schools, the release stated. Stock also served as a district leader, high school principal and teacher in the Elk Grove Unified School District, the release stated.
