Louise Pipher 6/6/1948 - 2/1/2020

Louise Sharon Pipher was born June 6, 1948 in Troy, NY to Robert W. and Ruth E. née Browning Pipher. Her father was in the Air Force thus she lived in many of our beautiful States while growing up. She ended up in California and lived in Sacramento, Hawthorne, Huntington Beach, Gardena, Mission Viejo, Auburn and Roseville during her lifetime. Louise passed away February 1, 2020 with family around her after a long illness. She was a Presbyterian and spiritualist in faith. She graduated from the University of California Irvine and worked as a county Planner for the County of Orange for seven years before moving to Auburn and opening her own private medium-sized preschool which she ran for 30 years - A Star Is Born Preschool. She was proud to have helped hundreds of young children get their best start in school. All four of her grandchildren attended her preschool. Louise was a 43 plus year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and held most offices in her chapters. She was an avid genealogist and helped others with their family research as well. She was thrilled to have proven ancestry to 15 Revolutionary War patriots all who served for the State of Pennsylvania. She also had three great-grandfathers who served for the North in the Civil War, a grandfather in WWI and her own father in WWII. She was a strong patriot herself. Louise was a published author - she wrote America Cooks, an Album of Recipes, Food History and Folklore. This book was a wonderful, researched study of food and the history of many of our favorite recipes that are found on tables in homes all across America. DAR members contributed family recipes and Louise did the research. It is in the Library of Congress and a copy was gifted to the First Lady Laura Bush who wrote a lovely thank you letter in return. Louise was known for her writing of many letters, emails, poems, etc. She married first David Holbert and had her two sons with him. Forty year later she ended with her first boyfriend, Harry Albright, who was the first love of her life. They had a 40 year gap in their relationship. Louise is survived by her sons Dan and Mike Holbert, grandchildren Mary, Jon, Julia and Joshua; and a great granddaughter Chloe who was born on Louise's birth date 71 years later. There will be no public service but rather a private family home memorial after the cremation. Louise will be buried in the Old Auburn Cemetery in Auburn California.
