Roger Llewellyn Barrett10/6/1934-2/23/2020Roger went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on 2/23/2020 after a brief illness. He was born on October 6, 1934 in Los Angeles, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kyrle, Jr. and Leona Barrett and sister, Marilyn Clements. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lynn Barrett; his two sons, Michael Thor Barrett (Ginger) and Erik Nathaniel Barrett (Julie); his sister, Geraldine Boyd; grandchildren, Bryan Michael Barrett, Casey Frederic Barrett, Courtney Noelle Barrett; and several nieces and nephews. Roger graduated in 1953 from Canoga Park High School, California and later attended Pierce College in Los Angeles, California. He served two years in the United States Army Signal Corp in Germany. He then worked 43 years for the Bell Telephone System in the Glendale, Van Nuys and Sacramento data repair departments. Roger and Mary Lynn were married in Van Nuys, California on July 27, 1963 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. They lived in North Hollywood, California for ten years and then moved to Auburn California in 1973 with their two boys. Roger was active in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Auburn and especially enjoyed their Choir and Music Program. He was active in the installation and maintenance of the pipe organ. He was also an active member of the Mother Lode Model T Club in Auburn. After retirement in 1996 he continued his enjoyment of antique cars, especially his 1926 Model T pick up and 1927 Buick Roadster. Roger had a love of classical music, Gilbert and Sullivan Operas, his player piano, antique radios and Victrolas. We are heartbroken, but thankful for the gift he was to us and the example of humanity he set for all who knew him. He was God's grace manifest in our lives. His service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Auburn, California on March 4th at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
