Folsom man arrested for online sex offenses

A Folsom man was taken into custody after being accused of posing online as a 14-year-old boy while attempting to solicit nude photos and video from a 12-year-old girl, authorities said.The Folsom Police Department, in partnership with the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, arrested Matthew Goyder, 36, for allegedly contacting a 12-year-old girl online for the purposes of sexually exploiting a child. Folsom Police said they were notified of the crimes through law enforcement in Florida, where the young girl resides and the situation was reported by the parents. Police said the child reported she was first contacted by Goyder in November of last year when he posed as a 14-year-old boy.The young girl further reported that the boy became increasingly hostile over the next month and began demanding illicit photographs and video from her, police said, which led to the girl telling her parents of the situation.An investigation by Folsom Police and the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force led to authorities contacting Goyder on March 5. A search warrant was served at the suspect's place of employment, as well as his residence. Several electronic devices were seized for further investigation. Goyder was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for communicating with a minor with intent to commit a sex offense and for contacting a minor with intent to commit certain sexual offenses. Folsom Police said in a statement they believe it is highly unlikely there is only one victim in this case and encourage possible other victims or anyone with information on Goyder to contact the department."Based on our training and experience with these types of crimes, we know it is unlikely there is a single victim contacted by Goyder," said the statement. "If your child has been contacted by anyone online and asked to produce nude photos or videos that are sexual in nature, we ask you to reach out to Detective Rowberry at drowberry@folsom.ca.us, and provide him the information and usernames used to make contact."
