Area pubs gearing up for week of green

Beer, whiskey, corn beef and cabbage and Irish music – when mixed together, St. Patrick's Day celebration is what you will get. Many local pubs and bars are getting ready for the celebration to take place on Tuesday, March 17, which is their busiest day of the year. On March 13, enjoy musical guests of the Stepping Stones from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by the Island of Black and White from 7:30to 10 p.m. March 14, the Stepping Stones return from 11a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Unleashed from 7:30to 10:30 p.m.On Sunday, the fun continues with all the libations along with live music by Cynthia Renee and Co. from 5:30to 8:30 p.m. It all leads up to March 17 when the multi-day celebration concludes with live music by Pipes and Drums followed by local artist Megan T. Fat Rabbit, Folsom For St. Patrick's Day, The Fat Rabbit doesn't do green beer but it does add a special item to their menu – corn beef and cabbage. This traditional Irish pub in the heart of Historic Folsom is a favorite for many on this holiday, just the way it is 365 days a year. "We'll also bring in some extra Guinness, but other than that, we just open the doors and brace ourselves. If you're good at what you do, why change?" he said. "We're built for the holiday and don't have to alter what we do for it.
