Crime Victims United Compensation Program offers resources for public

Our nation is in crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic swiftly engulfing the country and the societal unrest. Chaos is surrounding almost every move we make as we try to navigate in these unprecedented times. There has been a surge in the number of crime victims, especially in the areas of sexual abuse, domestic violence, assault and child abuse. The mission at Crime Victims United is to advocate for today's victims, try to prevent tomorrow's and provide resources for the public at large. Most people are unaware that CVU's Victim Compensation program is a resource available at no cost. Located in Auburn, CVU works directly with the California Victims Compensation Board on behalf of victims, advocating and securing funds for the financial cost or burden from crimes committed against them. "We believe being a victim of a crime is enough to endure. At CVU, we will help you address the overwhelming and unforeseen financial burdens as well as navigate the legal system," says Victim Compensation Department Director Melissa Centi. "We can help with mental health therapy bills, relocation and moving fees, medical bills, funeral expenses, prescription medication costs, crime scene clean-up fees, physical therapy bills, alternative medicine expenses, and so much more." This resource in our community is invaluable and available to any victim. CVU helps give a voice to crime victims.
