Drugs entering Auburn Jail? 2 inmates add felonies to existing charges

Two Auburn Jail inmates have been charged in connection with drugs entering the jail facility. Placer County Sheriff's detectives and Auburn Jail staff have been investigating the source of drugs entering the facility over the last several months. The Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday the investigation revealed Mong Yang, 37, and Movses Dermishyan, 31, conspired with individuals outside the jail to have drugs mailed into the facility. Drugs identified as Suboxone dissolvable strips were found concealed inside mail envelopes. According to the Sheriff's Office, Yang and Dermishyan intended to ingest the drugs and sell them to other inmates. According to the online In Custody Report, Yang was initially booked March 11 and his charges include being a felon or addict in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of burglary tools and providing false identification to a peace officer. The online In Custody Report notes Dermishyan was booked Feb. 3 and his charges include grand theft and possession of personal identifying information of 10 or more people. Both inmates are ineligible for bail and have been additionally charged with drug possession, distribution of drugs within a jail facility and conspiracy. According to the Sheriff's Office, the new charges are all felony crimes. The investigation to identify the source of the drugs and other individuals involved is ongoing, the Sheriff's Office reported.
