Community events abound in Folsom, El Dorado Hills

Shred for a causeEmpire Oaks Elementary will hold their annual Community Shred Day on Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Raley's parking lot at Blue Ravine and Green Valley Road in Folsom. The school will be pre-selling bags for $10 in the school office located at 1830 Bonhill Drive in Folsom. Shreddables may also be brought on April 18 for a quote on the cost based on the amount. The bags hold approximately 60 pounds of shreddable material. There is no need to remove paper clips, staples or tape. The shredder will be onsite and everything will be shredded immediately. All proceeds will benefit Empire Oaks Elementary School. Shred Biz is donating their time and equipment to this fundraiser.Furniture drive in El Dorado HillsFurniture for Families, along with Rolling Hills Christian Church, is holding a furniture drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at Rolling Hills Christian Church in El Dorado Hills. All furniture must be in good condition. Needed items are sofas, beds, mattresses (no kings, please), dressers, tables, chairs, coffee tables and end tables. All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be provided. Appliances, entertainment centers, hide-a-beds, recliners and anything soiled, torn, or broken cannot be accepted. Furniture for Families is a local, all volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing good basic home furnishings to those in need through local social service agencies at no cost.
