Wanted felon from Ceres arrested for weapon, drug possession in Auburn

A Ceres man was arrested Jan. 13 on suspicion of weapon and drug possession in Auburn. A Placer County Sheriff's deputy learned of a Motel 6 guest with an outstanding felony warrant out of Stanislaus County while patrolling near the motel. According to the Sheriff's Office, the guest was identified as William Thomas Holder, 44. The deputy attempted to detain Holder after noticing him outside the motel, but Holder fled. The Sheriff's Office reported Holder was placed under arrest after a brief foot chase and a small handgun fell out of his waistband during the arrest. The handgun was loaded with seven rounds. Holder had a large amount of cash in his pockets and two plastic bindles hidden in his pants which contained heroin and meth. According to the Sheriff's Office, the deputy retrieved a fanny pack Holder dropped before the chase and found it contained 1.7 ounces of heroin, 2.9 grams of meth, a digital scale, a glass pipe and 12 rounds of ammunition. Holder was booked into the Auburn Jail and charged with his outstanding warrant, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of narcotics, possession of heroin for sale, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Holder was released from custody March 3.
