Dr. Robert Weiss 1929 - 2021

Dr. Robert M. Weiss passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 22nd 2021 at the age of 92. Though Bob's health declined over the past year he never lost his grace and sense of humor. Bob and his wife Chris called Auburn home for more than 50 years. One of Bob's proudest legacies lives on as a founding member of Auburn Faith Community Hospital where his impact is still recognized today at Sutter Auburn Faith. He was recognized by colleagues for his surgical skill and beloved for his dedication, compassion and generosity of spirit, never believing medical care should be limited to those of financial means. He was a member of the Sacramento Medical Society as well as Flying Doctors, which helped build clinics in Mexico and disadvantaged communities. Bob was born in New York City on January 2nd 1929. He grew up in Yuma, Arizona. He earned his medical degree at St. Louis University, and went on to medical service in Goose Bay, Labrador where he met Chris. They soon moved west to northern California to start his career and a family of 5 children, now 7 grandchildren.Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years Christine Weiss (October 2nd, 2018), and is survived by his 5 children: Susan (Santa Rosa), Jerry (San Diego), Michael (Pilot Hill),Brian (San Carlos), and Ann (Nevada City) .Many thanks and eternal gratitude to the many caregivers who grew to love Bob and Chris as we do, which was reflected in their excellent care of them in final years. A memorial service will be held Friday March 12th at 10:30am at St Teresa of Avila Parish in Auburn, CA.
