Balanced Oakmont softball winners of 4 straight

Oakmont softball won its fourth game in a row after Wednesday's 7-4 victory over Casa Roble. A three-run home run from Madison Redinger in the second inning and an RBI double from Lily Peterson in the third set the tone for starter Aubrey Smith, who went five innings and struck out seven while giving up three hits and two earned runs. Redinger's homer was her first hit of the season. A day earlier, Oakmont beat Whitney 8-4 on the strength of pitcher Kennedie Magorian, who went seven innings, allowing five hits and one earned run while punching out nine. Lanie Blomquist's two-run double gave Oakmont a fifth-inning lead, and Vanessa Hollinger's two-run single provided insurance for the Lady Vikings. Peterson had two doubles and an RBI while Grace Johnson, who leads Oakmont with a .588 (10-for-17) batting average, was 3-for-4 while scoring twice. Johnson, Blomquist and Hollinger are all batting at least .500 for Oakmont while Magorian and Smith hold a collective 2.71 earned run average in the circle. Oakmont travels to Del Campo on Friday. Rocklin pitching continues to roll Rocklin continued its dominant start to 2021 this week with an 11-0 win over Roseville on Tuesday and a 3-0 win over Folsom on Wednesday. Brook Thompson shut down the Lady Tigers with three hits allowed and nine strikeouts as Eliza Deatherage hit a walk-off double to enact the run rule in the sixth inning. Claudia Kirchner doubled and tripled with two RBIs, Jayla Castro tripled with two RBIs, Alexa Garcia homered and Sydney Barker and Kyra Gooler each went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. On Wednesday, Brielle Wright shut out Folsom on four hits while striking out 15 and going 2-for-4 at the plate. It was Rocklin's third straight shutout and fifth overall this season. Barker's RBI single got the scoring going for the Lady Thunder. Kirchner and Bella Garcia also drove in runs as Rocklin moved to 7-0. Granite Bay slugging its way to wins Granite Bay (5-2) earned its first Sierra Foothill League win Wednesday with a 10-3 win over Oak Ridge. The Lady Grizzlies supported a strong outing from Marissa Alders (seven innings, four hits, two earned runs, nine strikeouts) with 18 hits. Run-scoring singles from Sam Sette (2-for-3), Reese Mattley (2-for-3, three RBIs) and Kylie Nelson (3-for-4), RBI doubles from Maddison Bell (2-for-4) and Hailey Seva (3-for-4, two RBIs) and an RBI triple from Emma Vincent (2-for-4) powered a seven-run sixth inning for Granite Bay's fifth straight win. The Lady Grizzlies beat Antelope 3-1 on Monday after a solo homer from Hailey Seva and a two-run shot from Vincent in the fifth inning gave Avery Seva (seven innings, four hits, no earned runs, seven strikeouts) all the support she needed. Birch does it all in Del Oro win Jenna Birch had herself a day in leading Del Oro to a 10-0 victory on Wednesday against Whitney. The junior Oregon State-commit twirled a one-hitter with five strikeouts over five shutout innings and helped her own cause with a home run and three RBIs. Birch is hitting .412 with two homers through five games at the plate and has gone 3-1 with a 2.66 earned run average. Reagann Hoblit went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Olivia Robison was 2-for-3 with a double, Kendra Cannon had two hits and Caroline Grimes drove in two for Del Oro, which improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in Sierra Foothill League play. Roseville moves to 1-0 in CVC Roseville earned its first Capital Valley Conference win after Wednesday's 6-0 blanking of Woodcreek. Malaya Johnson struck out nine in her four-hit shutout performance while roping and RBI double at the plate. Shaylen McDowell went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI while Marissa Jordan added two hits and an RBI. McDowell leads the team with a .556 average while Jordan is second on the team at .353. Johnson has struck out 40 in 30 2/3 innings.
