Folsom Police nab shooting suspect

A man suspected of shooting another person in the head was located by Folsom Police Friday night, shortly after allegedly committing the crime in Citrus Heights. Citrus Heights Police Department reported that Miguel Angel Garcia-Rocio, 38, was taken into custody shortly after the incident that occurred on the 7900 block of Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights. Police dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday, reporting a shooting at a restaurant. The area where the incident occurred is well populated with several major shopping centers, such as Marketplace at Birdcage, the Citrus Town Center and the Sunrise Mall. When officers arrived at the restaurant, they found a man who had suffered a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, according to police. The suspect had fled the scene at the time According to the press release, it is suspected that the alleged shooter and the victim were involved in an argument before the incident, prior to the suspect fleeing the area. Police obtained descriptions of the gunman and a vehicle, and notified other nearby law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect. According to Folsom Police reports, officers made a traffic stop on Garcia-Rocio in Folsom, near the city limit line on Madison Avenue, east of Main Avenue. After pulling the vehicle over, officers confirmed the driver matched the description of the Citrus Heights incident. Garcia-Rocio was taken into custody and investigators later linked him to the shooting via video surveillance. Garcia-Rocio was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. According to Sacramento County Jail records, he remains in custody and is ineligible for bail. Garcia-Rocio faces three felony charges, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a loaded firearm along with a misdemeanor charge of concealing a gun. He faced arraignment on Tuesday afternoon.
