Newcastle Area Business Association makes donation to Twin Peaks Orchards

Last year, on a hot August night, a fire blazed through a packing shed in Newcastle and Twin Peaks Orchards lost its only packing operations, including just-harvested fruit, equipment and family heirlooms. "Memories of both family and community gatherings honoring agriculture in Placer County were forged in that nearly 100-year-old building," says Twin Peaks Orchards owners Justin and Camelia Miller. To help in the rebuilding of their operations, a GoFundMe account was opened and many donations have been received. Recently, the Newcastle Area Business Association (NABA) donated $1,000 to this rebuilding effort. NABA represents and promotes businesses in the Newcastle, Penryn and Ophir area and has contributed more than $650,000 to the community. NABA is also known for its annual scholarship program for high school seniors as well as owning and hosting the Mountain Mandarin Festival for more than 25 years. Speaking of the Mountain Mandarin Festival, it will be held this year at the Gold Country Fairgrounds from Nov. 19-21, so save the date.
