Placer County Sheriff's crime log: Observatory burglary, reported battery, more

May 4 A 46-year-old Auburn resident reported a theft in the 1600 block of Lilac Lane after observing a woman take mail out of her mailbox. The mail contained a check for $2,200, however, she was able to cancel the check and no money was taken from her account. The suspect is described as a White female with black hair wearing dark jeans and a white shirt with colored print and driving a black sedan. May 5 Luis Garcia Lopez, 31, of North Highlands was arrested on suspicion of vandalism, forgery, possession of personal identifying information, meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia at Thunder Valley Casino outside Lincoln. May 6 A burglary was reported in the Blue Canyon Road area of Emigrant Gap after a telescopic mirror worth $5,000 was stolen from the observatory. May 8 Michael Keith Smith, a 29-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Bell Road in Auburn. May 10 Ryan James Heater, 26, of Foresthill was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication at Thunder Valley Casino. A 32-year-old West Sacramento resident reported a burglary at Thunder Valley Casino after items were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked on the fifth floor of the garage. A loss of $1,500 was reported. May 11 Gary Lee Evanson, 64, of Auburn was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the Sunset Boulevard and Highway 65 area of Rocklin. Kwamane Fields, 31, of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of providing false identification belonging to another to a peace officer and meth possession. The arrest followed a traffic stop at Thunder Valley Casino. A 60-year-old individual reported a theft in the 4000 block of Grass Valley Highway in Auburn after his LG Stylo 5 cell phone, worth $120, was stolen while attending an AA meeting. Eric Douglas Creech, 35, of North Highlands was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition following a traffic stop in the Fiddyment Road and Settlers Ridge Way area of Roseville. May 12 Christina Marie Henson, a 39-year-old Auburn transient, was arrested on suspicion of resisting a peace officer by means of violence and probation violation. The arrest followed a report of a woman walking in and out of traffic in the New Airport Road and Golf Course Road area of Auburn. Anthony James Swesey, 25, of Foresthill was arrested on suspicion of meth possession, possession of meth for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. The arrest followed a probation search in the 22200 block of Foresthill Road. A burglary was reported at Lukas Cargo Systems in the 3800 block of Cincinnati Avenue in Rocklin after a window was removed, the entrance door handle was found broken and blank checks were stolen from a file cabinet. A 52-year-old Auburn resident reported a theft in the 200 block of Pinewood Way after a package containing a ring worth $1,700 was removed from her porch. Morgan Elaine Young, 28, of Georgetown was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth for sale and sale or transportation of meth. Peter Passalis, 26, of Georgetown was arrested on suspicion of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person. The arrests followed a traffic stop in the Newcastle Road and Interstate 80 area of Newcastle. May 13 A 64-year-old Auburn resident reported battery in the 1100 block of Atwood Road after an unknown individual pushed him into the back of a chair, causing pain to his right rib cage, following a verbal altercation. The suspect is described as a 6-foot White male weighing 190 pounds. A burglary was reported in the 3100 block of Industrial Boulevard in Rocklin after a framing hammer was stolen from a building. May 14 A 66-year-old Auburn resident reported being bilked out of $19,500 after completing a wire transfer to Bank of America to a "Yating Wei" under the assumption of receiving a refund for US Web and Repair. A 48-year-old Citrus Heights resident reported a theft at Thunder Valley Casino after his motorcycle helmet and gloves were stolen off his motorcycle while he was in the casino. A loss of $600 was reported. A 56-year-old Auburn resident reported a theft in the 2800 block of Grass Valley Highway after $1,700 was stolen from her purse in her vehicle.
