Firefighters save Folsom Cliff House from flames

Courtesy The quick response by firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department shortly after midnight Tuesday saved a longtime Folsom restaurant from being consumed by flames. Although it suffered interior damage, the Folsom Cliff House will be able to make repairs and continue to serve diners as it has for some six decades, At approximately 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, the Folsom Fire Department was dispatched for a water flow alarm to the restaurant at 9900 Greenback Lane in Folsom. Following the alarm call, additional 9-1-1 calls reported flames were visible from the building, prompting fire personnel to upgrade the incident to a full commercial fire assignment that included additional response from Sacramento Metro Fire District. Folsom's Engine 36 was the first on scene to note visible exterior fire on the building's front side that was quickly extinguished. The restaurant's interior was saved from the spreading flames but sustained moderate smoke and water damage, according to Lauren Ono, public information officer for the Folsom Fire Department. Through the decades, the Cliff House has been a longtime destination in Folsom. It has experienced a number of changes through the years and was reinvented last year to include its original name, alone with its American cuisine. It originally came from a family of legendary restaurants in the Bay Area, including Tarantino's in San Francisco and the Spinnaker Sausalito. As of press time, the restaurant was closed. A staff member returned a message to the Telegraph, stating they hoped to have the restaurant repaired and reopened by the weekend or next week.
