EDH firefighters snuff 4 fires in 4 days

It has already been a busy week for firefighters in El Dorado Hills, with four wildland fires in four scorching hot days. The largest in the trio of blazes occurred Monday afternoon when a fire broke out on the south side of El Dorado Hills, threatening homes in the Blackstone community. The fast-moving fire was reported at 3:27 p.m. Monday near Blackstone Parkway and Valley View Parkway. The flames were reportedly traveling toward homes. Firefighters from multiple agencies were able to control the blaze and contain it to 35 acres by Tuesday morning with no reported damage to homes. Some residential fences were scorched in the fire. "Crews were able to mitigate the threat to structures and put a wet line around the fire within two hours of dispatch," stated an incident media release from CAL FIRE. On Sunday, a blaze broke out on the north side of the freeway along Serrano Parkway near El Dorado Hills Boulevard. El Dorado Hills Firefighters were quickly on scene with assistance from neighboring departments. According to El Dorado Hills Deputy Fire Chief Michael Lilienthal, the flames jumped over Serrano Parkway and burned just under 7.5 acres and damaged some homeowner's property before they got it contained. "Some wood fences and storage containers were damaged," said Lilienthal. "Firefighters were able to protect all houses and structures in the area." The third fire this week broke out near the Blue Shield offices, just west of El Dorado Hills Town Center. This blaze was reportedly caused by a transformer failure and the area did suffer some power loss. The cause of the earlier fires remains under investigation. On Wednesday, El Dorado Hills firefighters responded to a fourth blaze that broke out near Bass Lake Road. The fire ignited after a delivery truck struck an overhead power line. The Bass Lake fire was contained to less than one acre, which had recently undergone weed abatement, assisting firefighters.
