Woodcreek defeats Roseville for District 54 Little League Junior Championship

The "Blonde Squad" shines on. Bleaching their hair in solidarity prior to the tournament, the undefeated Woodcreek Junior All-Stars took the District 54 Championship Tuesday with a convincing 6-0 win over cross-town rival Roseville.Woodcreek collected nine hits in the contest. Jacob Nereson, Lucas Kraude and Jackson Whitesides all collected multiple hits for the victors. Nereson pitched the seven-inning shutout, scattering four hits and fanning six. Nereson also made seven plays as the squad went error-less. Landon Denning struck out five for the runners-up. After losing to Woodcreek last week, the Roseville Juniors eliminated Folsom National 4-1 July 2 to earn the rematch with Woodcreek. The Roseville Junior roster includes Jaydon Quick, Carter Maldonado, Patrick Dietler, Maddox Ostenik, Guy Razzano, Landon Jorgenson, Merin Santos, Donnie Greeson, Colton Wolfe, Travis Barajas, Aaron Palmer, Landon Denning, Braylon Bass and Andres Sanchez. 11U All-Stars In the 11U All-Star baseball action, Ponderosa eliminated Lakeside 6-2 July 6 after press time. Woodcreek, Maidu and Roseville were also eliminated earlier in the 11U Loser's Bracket this week. Roseville downed Maidu 14-9 June 29, but were barely eliminated themselves 6-5 by Cosumnes July 1. The Woodcreek 11U All-Star roster includes Tyler Bettencourt, Wesley Diestler, Brecken Ellstrom, Ronan Grover, Gavyn Lane, Aiden Madison, Elijah Martinez, Owen McCroskey, Reid Medeiros, Spencer Merchant, Kassius Pugh, Noah Schmit, Gavin Truax. Manager is Brandon Ellstrom. Coaches are Karl Grover and Derek Truax.
