Drever loves swimming and loves the Taz

Thomas Drever loves swimming and loves the El Dorado Hills Taz Swim Team; those two things are certainties. This past season, Drever was a member of the El Dorado Hills Taz, as well as AquaSol, a competitive club swim team based out of Cameron Park. Most kids don't swim for both, but Drever decided to keep swimming with the Taz because of his love for the sport and the team. "Thomas is an absolute spirit animal for the El Dorado Hills Taz," Coach Brittney Cicchetti said. "This year at awards he received overall Tazarian because of how dedicated he is, how much sportsmanship he shows and how much love for the Taz he has. It shows throughout his practices, the meets and the relationships he builds with his teammates and with the coaching staff. We had 15 coaches this year and all 15 said Thomas deserved an award for all his hard work. He's one of our faster swimmers for the 7-8 boys. He also received high points overall for his age group." Drever's top times this season included 25 free – 16.51, 50 free – 38.63, 25 back – 20.90, 25 breast – 26.26, and 25 fly – 22.10. Folsom Telegraph: After missing out on last swim season with the Taz because of COVID, how was it to be back in the pool this year? Thomas Drever: Thankfully, I was able to swim with AquaSol. It was great, however, to be back with my Taz friends. FT: How long have you been swimming with the Taz? TD: I have been swimming with Taz since 2018. FT: What have you enjoyed about being part of the Taz family? TD: I really enjoy getting to know the coaches. FT: You had a few virtual meets this year. Did you like them or not? Was it harder to get excited for them compared to a regular meet when your opponent is next to you? TD: I liked it because I was swimming in my team pool each meet, but missed the competitiveness that comes with regular meets. FT: What are your favorite events/strokes? Why do you like those events? TD: My favorite stroke is backstroke. It's my fastest event. I also love the relays. FT: What are your best times in those events? TD: I swam the 25 backstroke in 20.90. FT: You swam both for AquaSol and the Taz. Why did you do both? Was it difficult to manage? TD: I swam with AquaSol right up until the start of Taz. Then I switched to Taz because I wanted to be able to earn points for my team. FT: What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment in the pool was this season? TD: Getting sixth overall in 7/8 boys at the last championship meet and earning high point for 7/8 boys on Taz. FT: Have you ever been involved in any other sports? TD: I really love baseball as well. FT: What school do you attend and what grade will you be in this year? TD: I go to Lake Forest Elementary school and will be in third grade. FT: What is your favorite subject in school and why? TD: Math is my favorite subject, but I also enjoy reading. FT: What's your favorite movie? TD: My favorite movie right now is Space Jam. I love that Taz is in it. FT: Favorite Food? TD: My favorite food is chicken. FT: Do you have any hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time? TD: I like to play video games, shoot hoops and jump on the trampoline. FT: What inspires you in sports? TD: Improving inspires me to play sports. FT: Is there a particular job or profession you'd like to have someday? TD: I would like to be a veterinarian or a police officer.
