Auburn Journal's new sports reporter gets it; he grew up in Placer County

Hello readers, I would like to introduce myself to you as your new sports reporter for the Auburn Journal. I am excited to get to work for this community and to tell the stories of your local sports teams. I grew up locally so I know how much the communities of Auburn, Colfax and Foresthill value their teams. I enjoy watching sports at all levels and love a great storyline involving them. A little bit about me, I currently live in Roseville but I grew up in Rocklin. I attended Del Oro High School and graduated in 2014. While at Del Oro, I played football and rugby. I went on to play rugby collegiately at Utah State University and then California Maritime Academy. During that time, I realized I didn't enjoy what I was studying. For my entire life, I have had a passion for sports and have been told from a young age I should pursue a career in sports journalism. Now I've changed my major and am currently a senior at William Jessup University doing just that. This is my first job at a newspaper. In addition to the Auburn Journal, I also work for the Lincoln Potters summer collegiate baseball team as a writer and statistician. On top of that, I work for Jessup Athletics and am proud to say I will be one of the play-by-play voices for Jessup basketball this season. I am also heavily involved with Jessup's softball and baseball programs. As I said, I am a passionate sports fan of all levels. My loyalties especially lie with the Las Vegas Raiders, Oakland Athletics, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Blackhawks and Florida State Seminoles. My favorite player of all-time is Charles Woodson, and it is my delusional dream to one day see my Raiders win a Super Bowl. I am excited to start this chapter of my life and career with all of you here at Gold Country Media. I hope to get to know as many of you as possible as I start my career in Auburn.
