Sharon F. Gaal 3/29/1946 - 9/3/2021

On Friday, September 3, 2021, Sharon Gaal, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 75. Sharon was born March 29th, 1946 in Long Beach, CA to Charlescy & T.O. Meeks. She grew up in Southern California, where she received her BA degree at the University of Redlands and her teaching credential at Humboldt State. Following her graduation, she taught in elementary school for more than 40 years. On June 15, 1968 Sharon married the love her life Rowland Gaal at her parent's home in Lake San Marcos, California. They grew together, living in love, and raised two children, Brigitte and Ken Gaal. Sharon had a passion for life with a grateful and faithful heart for God. She liked to stay busy and had many interests, from travel to gardening and from knitting to serving the homeless. She was a life-long teacher, whether in the classroom with her students or helping her children or grandchildren. Sharon had a gift for being thoughtful and caring whether it be for her family, friends, neighbors, students, or to the earth. She was adventurous and adored the outdoors, exploring many beautiful natural places. She and Rowland shared a deep appreciation of Yosemite where they volunteered after their retirement and had many wonderful times in Hawaii. She cherished her grandchildren and was cherished in return. She will always be remembered for her gentle, kind and generous heart. Survived by husband Rowland Gaal and children Brigitte Cluver, Ken Gaal and his wife Amy Gaal as well as grandchildren, Charli (18), Makinzie (17), Luke (15) and Grady (11). Sharon's sister Katy lives in Auburn with husband John Leahy and her daughter and son in law, Sharon's niece and nephew Carey & Pat Shannon. Sharon's great-nephew and niece are Matthew and Kestley Shannon. She married into a wonderful family and loved her sisters-in-law Kathy King and Elizabeth Ricks and their husbands Jerry King and Doug Ricks.
