Grand reopening of Harry Crabb Park

All are invited to attend! This Saturday, Roseville will celebrate the long-awaited completion of Harry Crabb Park in the Roseville Stoneridge neighborhood. This special park event honors our four-time mayor who served on the Roseville City Council in the years 1980 to 2000. The city dedication begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with a Boy Scout flag ceremony, along with Mayor Krista Bernasconi and other city officials sharing their insights. Immediately following, the community event given by the Stoneridge Neighborhood Association will begin and lasts until 2 p.m. Former Mayor Harry Crabb will be in attendance, along with family and those who've had the pleasure of working with him through the years. Memory boards with photos and highlighted accomplishments of Crabb's City Council tenure, and some glimpses into his life in Roseville will be available for viewing. There will also be an information display on the fun history of the land where Stoneridge is built. Event line-up The community festivities of the day are designed for everyone, especially families! Eich Ball Room Dancers will give a presentation at 11 a.m. Saturday. Roseville Police Officer Lawley and his K9 companion, Juice, will demonstrate some of their unique law enforcement-related talents at 11:30 a.m. The Oakmont High School cheerleaders will perform at 12:15 p.m. Sierra College Volleyball team coaches will show us some tips for the game on the volleyball court at 1 p.m.. The Roseville High School Marching Band will perform as the final event of the day at 1:30 p.m. Ongoing activities include corn hole, ladderball, face painting, a magician, a bounce house, bocce ball demonstration and more. There's plenty to keep everyone busy and entertained. Food will be provided by award-winning T-Bones BBQ and Handel's homemade ice cream. About four-time Mayor Harry Crabb Crabb grew up spending a great many days of his youth playing in nearby Royer Park and swimming in Johnson Pool. He felt the camaraderie of both kids and parents coming together socially and the buddies he grew up with became friends for life. It was an influence that he would take forward as he served his community. While on council, Crabb said, he remembers the Parks and Recreation director laying out maps of projected new developments and discussing the best areas for parks. He, along with his fellow council members, led the way for more than 20 parks to be built in Roseville over the course of his tenure. "I feel so fortunate to have such good friends who've helped me through the years. There are so many people to thank," Crabb said. "I am a lucky guy in my life as a mayor in Roseville; it is very humbling." Crabb also indicated that building parks and schools and helping businesses grow in Roseville was a highlight of his tenure. "Those of us who serve on the City Council today stand on the shoulders of those who served before us," Mayor Bernasconi said. "Harry is always a top-of-mind example for me when it comes to demonstrating leadership, tenacity and a 'get-it-done' philosophy. Our city is better today because of his service." Former Mayor Susan Rohan, and the current president of the Stoneridge Neighborhood Association, expressed her thoughts about the event. "It's been a lot of fun working with our board to plan and host this Stoneridge Neighborhood Association celebration for families. We can't think of a better way to say thanks to the city and to honor the park's namesake than to have them witness kids enjoying a variety of fun in this new flagship park in east Roseville." It's not often a city gets to celebrate a four-time mayor!
