Rocklin named 43rd best place to live in U.S

Rocklin made Nationally known Money Magazine's 50 Best Places to Live in 2021 list, earning the No. 43 spot. The only other California city on the list was Mission Viejo at 48. The article, which appears in the October edition, cites top-rated schools, entertainment and recreational opportunities and historical sites. "Quarry Park is perhaps the city's biggest draw. Nestled right in a former mining quarry, it boasts an amphitheater, rock climbing, zip lining, paddle boating and more," the article stated. It goes on to mention Whitney Oaks Golf Club, gold medal-winning beers at Moksa Brewing Company and higher-education opportunities at Sierra College and William Jessup University. "The magazine looked at cities that had a low crime risk, a diverse population between 24,000 and 500,000 people and affordable cost of living," city of Rocklin spokesman Michael Young said. The national monthly magazine reached out with questions as part of the research prior to the article's publication, according to Young. Rocklin has had previous national recognition. In 2019, it was one of Money Magazine's Top 100 places to live, Young said. In August 2008, Family Circle magazine named it one of the "10 Best Towns" for families in the United States, according to the city of Rocklin's website. "The recognition the city receives from various media outlets for its quality of life and business climate help build its profile as a destination to live, locate or keep a business, or to visit and enjoy," Young said. "The recognition is also a testament to the work of city staff and the many organizations in Rocklin who work every day to make this city an exceptional place." Rocklin has 37 parks and miles of trails, including 2.7 miles at Sunset Whitney Recreation Area. Plans are in the works to add to the recreational amenities, including a proposed bicycle pump track at Whitney Park. The city is also reviewing bids for construction of phase one of the east trails at the Sunset Whitney Recreation Area, according to Young. Among the popular community events are a summer concert series at Quarry Park Amphitheater, which began in 2016, and the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce's Hot Chili and Cool Cars. "The people who live and work in Rocklin are the heart of the community and have built a special place for residents and visitors," Young said. "Rocklin has a mixture of first-class business, retail and recreational opportunities often offered by larger cities, but also combines those amenities with neighborhoods that maintain their sense of community and small-town values."
