William Allison Flowers 1923 - 2021

William "Bill" Flowers, a caring husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on September 11, 2021 at age 98.He was born to William and Hazel (Kelsey) Flowers in Ferndale, California. He graduated from Ferndale High School and then attended the University of California at Berkeley and received his engineering degree. Bill served in the US Navy during WWII before starting a dedicated forty-year career as an engineer with Pacific Gas and Electric Company.In 1947 Bill and Loretta Edith (Geisendorfer) Flowers were married in Auburn, California. This began a long and loving life together for seventy-four years. They lived in various parts of California and enjoyed many outdoor sports and travels . All friendships were important to them. Bill often recited this toast:There Are Small ShipsThere Are Tall ShipsAnd There Are Ships That Go To SeaBut The Best Ships Are The Friendships That AreHere Today With MeBill had a curious mind and pursued the things that especially interested him. He enjoyed collecting and handcrafting beautiful clocks. He also had a keen interest in astronomy.Bill is survived by his wife Loretta Edith Flowers, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.Bill will be laid to rest in the Colfax Cemetery in Colfax, California.
