Sacramento woman arrested for DUI after tailgating Placer Sheriff's deputy

A Sacramento woman was arrested Oct. 24 on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The Placer County Sheriff's Office reported a vehicle was tailgating a deputy's marked patrol unit on westbound Interstate 80 near the Heather Glen overpass, and continued to do so when the deputy changed lanes. Once behind the suspect's vehicle, the deputy attempted a traffic stop. According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect failed to yield and reached 90 mph in the rain with no exterior lights. The suspect's vehicle then crashed into the center divider due to slippery road conditions, and the suspect fled on foot across the freeway and was located on an embankment. The suspect ignored deputies' commands but was taken into custody and identified as Elizabeth Charlotte Boxall, 40, the Sheriff's Office reported. The arrest took place in the Interstate 80 area of Applegate, according to the report. Boxall was charged with driving under the influence, felony evading and resisting arrest. According to Lt. Nelson Resendes with the Sheriff's Office, Boxall was released from custody Oct. 26.
