Placer girls tennis falls in section championship

Placer High School's girls tennis season ended Wednesday with a loss to Mountain House in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV championship match. The Lady Hillmen went toe-to-toe with the top-seeded Mustangs in every set, but Mountain House prevailed 9-0. "We weathered through all of the season, to be able to win the league and to be able to work our way through the sections as a team and to make it to the finals to play a team like Mountain House this year. It's awesome," said first-season coach Tom Isaac. "And today, we battled, we made it close and I was hoping that some of those close matches would turn out to be wins for us." While Mountain House took every set, Placer kept things close, as several individual matchups went down to the wire. Rachel Edwards and Audrey Lund each stretched their matches into the third set in the best-of-three format. Placer is only losing two seniors from this roster, something Isaac is excited about for the future of the program. "I'm really proud of the underclassmen. We had a couple of good leaders and Nora (Tanovic) and Macy (Maddox) and seniors and the underclassmen, everybody's coming back except for those two. We're gonna be tough as nails," said Isaac. "The underclassmen got to experience all these bigger events and things being competitive. And hopefully it'll motivate them in the offseason."
