Clifford Ramos, Sr. 4/30/1927 - 11/6/2021

Clifford "Cliff" Ramos Sr., 94, passed away on November 6, 2021 with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. Cliff always felt strongly about the community of Meadow Vista and often said he was a lucky man to have lived and raised a family among so many wonderful people. For those who knew him through business or community service he is remembered for his friendliness and his integrity. Cliff enthusiastically supported the Meadow Vista Community Center. Cliff was born April 30, 1927, in Fairfield, CA to Frank and Emilia Ramos who were both born in Spain. Cliff graduated from Polytechnic High in San Francisco, CA where he quarterbacked for the championship football team. He served on a tugboat in San Francisco Bay before joining the Army and served in Korea with the US Army Military Police. After military discharge in 1947 Cliff visited his parents in Dutch Flat. He worked at a garage/gas station on old US 40 and drove a snowplow on Highway 20. Cliff met Patricia Alexander and they married in 1949. The newlyweds moved to Sacramento and Tom Raley hired Cliff as an employee of Raley's Grocery. Cliff ultimately purchased Meadow Vista Grocery from his stepfather. When the community was granted its own post office in 1952, Cliff became the first Postmaster of Meadow Vista where he served until 1975. He also served as volunteer Fire Chief. When Cliff accepted the position of Postmaster in Nevada City, he sold the grocery business. He and Pat kept ownership of their home and commercial buildings knowing that one day they would return. The couple moved back to Meadow Vista in 2000. Cliff studied Spanish, became fluent and traveled to Spain four times to meet the relatives he met through his avid interest in online genealogy.Cliff was a gem in the community and will be missed. He strived for integrity and community. Over his long career, he created many opportunities for others. Cliff is survived by his son, Rick, daughter-in-law, Denise, and a multitude of extended family here and abroad. The family is planning a celebration of life on January 8, 2022 at 11:00 am at Sierra Hills School, 16505 Placer Hills Road, Meadow Vista, CA.If you would like to donate in Cliff's name, please send your contribution to Meadow Vista Community Center, P.O.
