Darryl Weiss 5/17/1963 - 11/30/2021

When Darryl was diagnosed with prostate cancer 4 years ago, he met the challenge the same way he dealt with most things in life – with optimism and positivity. He constantly had a smile on his face through the symptoms, side effects, weight gain, and hair loss – always focused on helping others feel better about his situation and the fun he could have today. His earthly journey concluded November 30, 2021. Darryl was born May 17, 1963, in Roseville, California. Darryl was the oldest of seven children born to Wayne W. Weiss and Darlene Kinross Weiss. Darryl grew up playing with cousins, fishing with grandparents, hunting with uncles, harassing siblings, and exploring open fields. He attended Oakmont High School where he excelled at football, track, and girls. He served a as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Seville, Spain where he fell in love with the culture and met lifelong friends. When he went back to Spain with his sisters 30 years later it was like he had never left. Darryl returned to attend Sierra College where he excelled in softball and was the life of the party. He later attended and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in International Studies. While at BYU, Darryl enjoyed intramural flag football and led his team to a collegiate championship. Darryl's career path gave his family the opportunity to live in many places including Provo, UT, Boise ID, Eugene, OR and Gilbert, AZ. In each city, he enjoyed making life-long friends and exploring what the area had to offer. Darryl enjoyed watching sports, traveling, lunch dates and weekly garage sale hunting with his daughter, date night with his sweetheart, and participating in anything that was fun. Darryl always enjoyed playing in a softball tournament, riding motorcycles, rafting a river, fly fishing, boating on a lake, trips to the ice cream store, weekend getaways in San Diego, and a good family BBQ. He was an amazing and attentive dad who gave great advice. He taught us how to work hard, love unconditionally, stay positive, and always find a good sale. Darryl's legacy is in the many lives he touched for good. He was a devoted father, a natural leader, and had the unique ability to be a friend to anyone and everyone he met. Darryl is survived by his children Andrew, Brandon, Christopher, and Emily, his mother Darlene, his sweetheart Sally Hitson as well as his siblings Kirk (Carlynn), Kathryn (David) England, Tina, Ty (Cozett), Ann (Ben) Montie. Preceded in death by his father, Wayne W. Weiss and brother, Troy.A celebration of Darryl's life will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00am. Services will be held at The Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 6460 Cavitt Stallman Rd. Granite Bay, CA 95746.
