'A December to Remember' with Rockstar Music Academy

Rockstar Music Academy in Lincoln is hosting a variety of performances while giving back to the Lincoln community throughout December. All performances are at the Lincoln Civic Auditorium, 511 5th St. with no ticket prices or admission fees. Cash donations are accepted. "We really do care about this community," said Steven Pagano, Rockstar Music Academy's owner and founder. "We do a lot of outreach. It doesn't matter what we do, we give it all back,100 percent." This year, Rockstar Music Academy donated $30,000 to local organizations and charities, according to Pagano. On Dec. 3, the academy held its first event of the month, "Band Together" at the Lincoln Civic Auditorium. The benefit concert supported local organizations, including Lincoln Rotary, Relay for Life, Women's Club of Lincoln, and Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center. The Rockstar Music Academy will support these nonprofit organizations throughout this month. During Lincoln Hometown Christmas on Dec. 4, Rockstar Music Academy held a "Mistletoe Market" with live music and an artisan fair featuring 12 vendors, and Santa visits for families. Rockstar Music Academy also had a float in the Lincoln Hometown Christmas Parade. Last Saturday, Rockstar Music Academy partnered with Century 21 and hosted a free pancake breakfast for the community and a holiday romantic comedy with the Placer Repertory Theatre, "Persuasion," adapted from the Jane Austen novel. On Tuesday, "The Tavern at Twelve Bridges" performance featured musical groups from the Rockstar Music Academy ranging in ages 13 to 15. And this Saturday, Rockstar Music Academy will present "A Not So Silent Night" at Lincoln Civic Auditorium. This performance will feature the academy's musical theatre team students, trans Siberian orchestra and youth orchestra and the instructor band. "One of the reasons we do a lot of this is there's an amazing connection when the students can see their instructors performing," Pagano said. Saturday's grand performance will bring all the components of the Rockstar Music Academy with the band playing live music, the choir singing and the musical theatre students telling the Christmas story. Since opening in the beginning of 2020, Rockstar Music Academy has more than 300 students taking a variety of classes from musical theatre to guitar and drums. "It's endless with the amount of things that we do,"said Pagano. "Everything that we do, we give it completely back."
