Unity of Auburn hires new senior minister

Unity of Auburn recently announced that Rev. Cherie Larkin accepted the position as Senior Minister, effective Nov. 28. The Unity Movement, founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1889, grew out of Transcendentalism in the mid-1800s and became part of a spiritual movement called New Thought. Core tenants of Unity are the beliefs that every person is an expression of God and our thoughts have creative power. Unity offers inspiration and support to millions of people who consider themselves to be spiritual but not necessarily religious. Rev. Larkin has been involved in the Unity movement for more than 50 years. She was ordained by Unity Worldwide Ministries in 2000 and spent 14 years as Senior Minister at Unity of Nashville in Tennessee. Upon her return to California (home, as she would say) she spent time participating at Capital City Unity in Sacramento. During this time, Rev. Larkin also started an online ministry where she offers an array of spiritual classes, seminars and tools. Larkin is also a professional fundraising coach and advisor, having assisted many Unity ministries to raise more than $11 million to support growth and capital improvements. Rev. Larkin was born in San Francisco and grew up in Sacramento. She graduated from California State University Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Larkin is leading a five-week Sunday series, "Too Good Not to Be True," exploring how leading-edge neuroscience can be blended with spirit to create truly miraculous life.
